Announced as "The Kang Dynasty"
At San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel dates Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (May 2, 2025) and Secret Wars to close the Multiverse Saga - with Jonathan Majors’ Kang as the saga’s villain.
A finale in flux
After director Destin Daniel Cretton exits and Majors is dropped following a guilty verdict, Marvel begins retooling the two-film finale away from Kang.
Russos return · Doom revealed
At Comic-Con, Anthony & Joe Russo are confirmed to direct; the film is retitled Avengers: Doomsday; and Robert Downey Jr. is revealed as Victor von Doom - a brand-new role.
The cast-reveal livestream
A ~5.5-hour livestream of name-emblazoned director’s chairs unveils 26 cast members alongside Downey - drawing 275 million views in 24 hours.
Cameras roll
Principal photography begins, based primarily at Pinewood Studios in England.
On location
Location filming takes place in Bahrain and at Windsor Great Park, alongside the Pinewood soundstages.
Filming wraps
Principal photography completes after roughly five months, moving the film into post-production.

Four teasers roll out with screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash, each spotlighting a group. Together they pass one billion views within three days.

A full trailer plays for exhibitors at CinemaCon - the first substantial footage shown to a live audience, and the first look at Doom.
Full trailer online
The full trailer arrives online, revealing Downey's Doctor Doom and hitting 503 million views in 24 hours. Premium “Infinity Vision” tickets go on sale the same day.
In theaters
Avengers: Doomsday opens in 4,000+ U.S. theaters and select international premium formats.
Avengers: Secret Wars
The saga concludes one year later with the confirmed sequel, from the same writers and directors.
Where it was filmed
Production was based primarily at Pinewood Studios in England, with location work in Bahrain and at Windsor Great Park. Alan Silvestri - composer of Infinity War and Endgame - returns to score the film.
